Tackling health inequalities

Health Lottery Wales exists to tackle health inequalities across its region. It raises money to help reduce health inequalities across its region. It does this by running a society lottery and working collaboratively with independent charity, People's Health Trust, to develop local interventions.

We donate the good causes funds we raise to People's Health Trust, who invests these in communities wishing to make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

This grant making trust funds local people who have great ideas about how they can make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

Special Families Maesteg were awarded £10,634 for a two-year project to enable people with learning disabilities across Newport to have more choice and control over their lives.

It will do this through establishing weekly planning meetings where participants can shape a larger monthly meeting with guest speakers talking about their services, workshops for people with a learning disability on speaking up and other training opportunities.
